    Traffic Safety Commission presented a draft study for the movement of trucks in the Eastern Province




    Traffic safety Committee presented the Eastern study project for the movement of trucks in the eastern region, the short-term action plan for period of (5) years and the medium-term plan (10) to (15) years and long-term plan (30 years) to provide a secure and efficient transfer of goods on roads in the region.
    At a workshop hosted by the East Chamber on Thursday morning 9/1/2014 chaired Sultan Hamud Al-Zahrani, Secretary General of the Committee of traffic safety in the eastern region and Director of the program on traffic safety, Saudi Aramco, in the presence of a number of governmental bodies and relevant civil cargo transport. It is a Visual presentation of the study project aimed at ' raising traffic safety by improving the efficiency of heavy vehicle drivers and vehicles and safety engineering solutions and economic activity and the growth of markets through the application of regulations and the specifications just complete the harmonious to cargo operators and improve infrastructure to transport goods and improve the logistics chain, as well as reducing carbon emissions caused by transport by improving the efficiency of running roads and vehicle specifications, and finally to improve the social life of the inhabitants of the region through the Organization of cargo movement and control.
    The Visual presentation by the project coordinator, Mr. Khalid Alqotob that one of the objectives of the study is to review and study the movement of trucks in the eastern region, and identify points of congestion within the network and identify the nature and trends of, and prepare a plan to address the identified issues and organizing trucks and provide solutions that are applicable and practical and sensitive to privacy. Alqotob reviewed the study methodology moving in three stages, starting with ' collection of information ', then ' analysis and preparation of alternatives ', and finally ' strategic plan '.
    The draft study phase 1 (information gathering) that are used as a basis for study and affect future decisions, which include specifications of the vehicles and drivers, the planning of transportation systems, laws and regulations, and network improvements, transport of dangerous materials, and intelligent transportation systems. While the second phase (analysis, preparation of alternatives), the idea of transforming the transport of goods from road to rail, as well as alternatives to road infrastructure, legal and regulatory alternatives, regulatory and future land uses impact of industrial areas, and the use of intelligent systems for vehicles and drivers, the study confirmed that it will evaluate each alternative in accordance with a set of standards and goals related to study College. The strategic action plan is the third phase of the study is to provide the overall framework for the implementation of actions and recommendations that come up short (up to 5 years), medium term (10 years) and long term (up to 30 years), set the actors responsible for the implementation of tasks and specify the estimated cost and timetable for implementation.
    Alqotob, praised the efforts of the participants in the study are Saudi Aramco, the Saudi Commission for specifications, standards, Saudi railway company, the Railway Corporation, King Fahad industrial port, founder and transport companies, traffic Department, General Department of roads and transport in the Eastern Province, Saudi industrial property authority, public institution of the King Fahd bridge, port of Jubail, Eastern region municipality, and the Secretariat of the Ahsa, MaxPreps, King Abdulaziz port Dammam, led the special force for the security of the eastern region.

    Traffic safety Committee of the eastern region has embarked on this study with the guidance of his Highness Deputy Amir of East Prince Fahad Bin Abdulaziz bin musaed, the Chairman of the Committee on traffic safety of the eastern region and the follow up of the Governor of the Eastern Province, his Royal Highness Prince Saud bin Naif. And that Saudi Aramco is a founder of the project; an international consultant was commissioned to conduct the study and supervision of the strategic management of traffic safety in the region. This workshop is the second in a series of workshops held by the Committee with a view to publicize the draft of the study, the participants and proposals on transport by truck.
